To get anywhere from Ismailiya, it's back to the bus station on the ring road opposite the new Suez Canal University building. Private taxis (ŁE2-3) or
service taxis (50pt) to the bus station leave from the rank outside the train station in the city centre.
North Sinai Buses leave six times a day for El-Arish (8.30am, 9am, 10am, 12pm, 3.30pm & 5pm; 3hr; ŁE10); service taxis cost ŁE6. There are also service taxis to Rafah (ŁE8).
South Sinai Buses leave throughout the day and night to Sharm el-Sheikh (6.30am-midnight; 6hr; ŁE31), two of which carry on to Dahab (2.30pm & midnight; 7-8hr; ŁE36). A service taxi to Sharm el-Sheikh costs ŁE25. There's also a nightly bus to Nuweiba (9pm; 7-8hr; ŁE48).
Canal cities Buses travel regularly via Ismailiya between Port Said (at least hourly 6.45am-6.45pm; 1hr; ŁE5) and Suez (hourly 6.30am-6pm; 1hr; ŁE4) while service taxis are a bit cheaper (Port Said ŁE4.50; Suez ŁE3.50). A service taxi to Qantara is ŁE1.25.
Lower Egypt There are two buses daily to Alexandria (7am & 2.30pm; 4hr; ŁE17) and frequent departures for Cairo (every 45min 6.30am-7pm; 2hr; ŁE6.50). Outside of these hours you can still get to Cairo by service taxi (ŁE5) or to the Delta town of El-Mansura (ŁE6).
