The broader Rosetta branch of the Nile delineates one edge of the
Western Delta , whose other flank fades into desert. Its cotton fields and mill towns are visible enough from the Delta Road or the Cairo-Alexandria railway, and few places merit closer inspection.
Rosetta makes a nice day excursion from Alex (there's no tourist accommodation), and
Damanhur hosts two remarkable moulids, but you have to be pretty keen on archeology to bother with the
koms off the Tanta road.
